Notes from the tail
Open-source tools and experiments that grow out of the writing — libraries, notebooks, and interactive demos. Most are small, single-purpose, and meant to be read as much as run.
A compiler that sets the weights of a stock transformer, in closed form, so the forward pass executes an ordinary computation graph — no training anywhere. Flagship artifact: DOOM's classic software renderer compiled into a Phi-3 checkpoint that renders frames token by token, almost pixel-perfect.
A faithful reproduction of Lee Felsenstein's 1975 VDM-1, the pioneering S-100 video display board for the Altair 8800 — schematic recreated in KiCad, original layout and schematic bugs fixed, sold as bare boards and partial kits to the retrocomputing community.
A 1972 MGB converted to electric drive — HPEVS AC-50 motor on the stock transmission via a custom mount, LiFePO4 pack, about 30 miles of range, and quicker than stock off the line. Six months from teardown to drivable.
